About Me
I’m Ariana Marie Garcia, an assistant news editor at Chron.com in Houston, Texas, where I’ve spent the past four years helping shape the stories that inform and engage readers across the state.
I began my career at Chron.com as a trending news reporter, covering everything from politics and space exploration to scientific breakthroughs and the wonderfully strange happenings unique to Texas. My favorite stories often center around nature and wildlife, where I can blend curiosity, reporting, and photography—one of my greatest passions.
Before joining Chron.com, I worked as a breaking news and community reporter at the Austin American-Statesman, covering Central Texas. I earned my bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017.
I approach every story with an inquisitive mindset, always asking, “Can this be a story?” More often than not, the answer is yes—because if I’m asking the question, chances are others are too. My goal is to make complex topics accessible and to find the human angle behind every headline.
When I’m not chasing a lead, you’ll find me reading, watching horror movies, tending to my plants, or spoiling my two golden doodles, Jack and Whiskey.
